Introducing “Athlon,” a 2001 Bayliner 5788, in excellent condition!
The 5788, Bayliner’s Top-of-the-Line Pilothouse Motor Yacht, has exceptional appeal to boaters seeking great build quality with an innovative design in a yacht that can be had at a very attractive price. The 5788’s success along with its Pilothouse siblings, the 5288 and the 4788, led Brunswick Corporation use these designs to start the Meridian Yacht line in 2003.
5788’s with their thick, strong hulls and low center of gravity provide a very comfortable ride whether it be at cruise or wide-open throttle. Powered by twin 610 hp MAN marine diesels, Athlon cruises between 8 to 15 knots and will run up to the mid-20’s when desired.
You’ll step onto Athlon via her large boarding platform and then enter the cockpit through either of the two transom doors. Molded steps lead to the Fly Bridge with access to the bow on both sides.Entering though the sliding glass door you’ll note the large L shaped couch and multi-level coffee table to the left. To the right is a wet bar with sink, icemaker and entertainment unit.
Forward is the large dinette across from the galley with two-tier solid surface countertop. The galley has a new Stainless Steel Frigidaire Refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher, Frigidaire Microwave, and a Creda oven, glass cooktop, and compactor. The twin stainless steel sinks complete the galley.
Forward is the pilothouse. A couch and table are behind the adjustable helm seat that faces upgraded Raymarine and Simrad electronics including two Radars, GPS, Chart Plotter, Depth, Auto Pilot, Video Cameras, and VHF Radio. Port and starboard doors make docking and anchoring easy.
The fully enclosed Fly Bridge is accessed from the Pilothouse. The owners recently replaced the enclosures and Bimini, and installed new custom seat covers. The rear enclosure has a door to access the grill, davit crane and side console Rendova 380 Tender powered by a 40 HP Yamaha.
Down a curved stairway from the Pilothouse is a landing in the companionway where an upgraded ASKO stacked full size washer and dryer sit behind a mirrored fixture.
Forward along the companionway is the third stateroom, VIP Stateroom, and shared head.
The VIP Stateroom has a centerline berth with storage below, dual hanging closets, twin hatches above and private entrance to the shared head. The head has a vanity with solid surface countertop, sink, mirror with storage behind, vacu-flush toilet, and separate shower enclosure.
The third stateroom has crossed bunk beds with storage cabinets making a great space for guests.
Athlon’s spacious full beam Master Suite has an island queen berth flanked by nightstands and cedar-lined hanging lockers with a bureau to the left and mirrored cabinets. Across from the bed is an entertainment center and vanity with mirror. The head has a vacu-flush toilet with a separate enclosed tub/shower combination.
